    Titanic Belfast

Titanic Belfast is a striking six-story building designed to resemble the prow of a ship, symbolizing Belfast’s rich maritime legacy. Opened in 2012, the museum is located beside the original slipways, Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices, and the Hamilton Graving Dock—the exact spot where the Titanic was designed, built, and launched. The attraction features nine interactive galleries, cutting-edge exhibits, and immersive experiences that bring the Titanic story to life for visitors of all ages.

As Northern Ireland’s most visited attraction, Titanic Belfast is celebrated for its innovative design, engaging storytelling, and family-friendly environment. Whether you’re a Titanic enthusiast, a history lover, or simply looking for a memorable day out, Titanic Belfast promises a fascinating and emotional experience. In addition to Titanic Belfast, another remarkable attraction in the city is the HMS Caroline visitor experience in Belfast. This interactive venue offers a unique glimpse into naval history, allowing guests to explore the ship and learn about its significant role during World War I. With knowledgeable guides and engaging exhibits, visitors can immerse themselves in the stories of those who served onboard.

    History of Titanic Belfast

The story of Titanic Belfast is rooted in Belfast’s industrial past. In the early 20th century, the Harland & Wolff shipyard was at the heart of the city’s booming shipbuilding industry. Here, the RMS Titanic—alongside her sister ships Olympic and Britannic—was constructed to be the largest and most luxurious ocean liner of her time.

Titanic was launched on May 31, 1911, and set sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in April 1912. Tragically, the ship struck an iceberg and sank, resulting in one of the most infamous maritime disasters in history. The legacy of the Titanic has captivated the world ever since, inspiring countless books, films, and exhibitions.

Titanic Belfast was built to honor this legacy and to celebrate Belfast’s shipbuilding heritage. The museum opened in 2012, marking the centenary of the Titanic’s fateful voyage. Today, it stands as a symbol of remembrance and innovation, offering visitors a chance to explore the ship’s story from conception to construction, launch, and beyond.
