    Telus Spark Science Centre

Conveniently located just north of the Calgary Zoo in the Nose Creek Valley, TELUS Spark Science Centre is a beloved attraction for families, educators, traveling science enthusiasts, and locals alike. Whether the goal is to spark a love of science in children, deepen STEM knowledge in teens, or enjoy a day packed with innovation, Spark delivers endless discovery and fun. Its top-ranking features include the Infinity Dome Theatre, award-winning exhibits, a creative outdoor adventure zone, and Calgary’s only museum dedicated solely to science.

History of Telus Spark Science Centre

Opened originally as the Calgary Centennial Planetarium in 1967, the science centre was transformed into the Calgary Science Centre in 1987 and later rebranded as Telus World of Science – Calgary in 2005, following a landmark $9 million donation from TELUS. In 2011, Spark moved to its custom-built, 15-acre campus on St. George’s Drive NE, where modern architecture and outdoor learning spaces now support community engagement, sustainability, and cutting-edge science.

TELUS Spark has played an instrumental role in Calgary’s growth as a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) leader, running school outreach, summer camps, adult nights, and national science projects, including outreach for Indigenous youth during the COVID-19 crisis.
