Supertree Grove is the heart of Gardens by the Bay, Singapore’s waterfront garden next to Marina Bay Sands. Its giant, tree-like vertical gardens, up to 50 m tall and covered in ferns, orchids and bromeliads, have become one of the most recognisable sights in Singapore.
Walking among the Supertrees is free, day and night. You only pay for the OCBC Skyway and the Supertree Observatory, and the nightly Garden Rhapsody light show is free to watch.

History of Supertree Grove
Gardens by the Bay opened on 29 June 2012 on reclaimed land at Marina South. There are 18 Supertrees in the gardens, 12 of them in Supertree Grove, ranging from about 25 m to 50 m in height. The gardens were master-planned by UK landscape architects Grant Associates.
The Supertrees are more than decoration: some collect rainwater, some carry photovoltaic cells, and others work as air vents for the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories. The Supertree Observatory opened at the top of the tallest Supertree in 2019.

- OCBC Skyway: a 128 m aerial walkway 22 m above the ground, strung between two Supertrees, with views over the gardens and Marina Bay.

- Garden Rhapsody: a free light and sound show among the Supertrees, nightly at 7:45pm and 8:45pm, lasting about 15 minutes.
- Vertical gardens: over 150,000 plants from more than 200 species growing on the Supertrees’ steel frames.

- Walk the Skyway: go around sunset for the best light, then stay for the show.
- Watch Garden Rhapsody: lie back on the ground under the Supertrees; arrive 15 minutes early for a good spot.
- Visit the domes: combine the grove with the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories nearby.
- Take photos: the view of the Supertrees with Marina Bay Sands behind is a classic shot.
- Eat satay: Satay by the Bay, a hawker centre at the edge of the gardens, is a short walk away.
Supertree Grove – Entry Eligibility and Open Timings

How Long to Spend at Supertree Grove
Allow about 1 hour for the grove, the Skyway and the Observatory, plus 15 minutes for the light show. Add 2 to 3 hours if you also visit the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.
How to Get There
- MRT: Bayfront station (Circle and Downtown Lines), Exit B, then follow the underground link and bridge to the gardens, about 10 minutes. Gardens by the Bay station (Thomson-East Coast Line) is also nearby.
- Bus: service 400 stops on Marina Gardens Drive.
- On foot: from Marina Bay Sands, cross the Dragonfly or Lion Bridge from the hotel side, about 10 minutes.
- Taxi: drop-off at the Gardens by the Bay main entrance on Marina Gardens Drive.
