    History of River Wonders

River Wonders officially opened its doors onFebruary 28, 2014, after a soft launch in April 2013. The park was developed at a cost of approximately S$160 million and spans over 12 hectares (30 acres). It was designed to educate visitors about the importance of river ecosystems while providing a home for over 11,000 animals from more than 300 species, including many endangered ones. The park features several themed exhibits that replicate the habitats of famous rivers such as the Amazon, Nile, and Mekong, making it the first of its kind in Asia.

The park is particularly famous for its Giant Panda Forest, which houses a pair of giant pandas, a gift from China to commemorate 20 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China. This exhibit has been a significant draw for visitors since its opening.
