    Planet Ocean Montpellier is the result of a visionary merger in April 2018 between two beloved institutions: the Mare Nostrum Aquarium and the Galilee Planetarium. This union created a comprehensive exploration center, allowing guests to discover both the mysteries of the underwater world and the wonders of outer space under one roof. Since its inception, Planet Ocean has become a leader in environmental education, conservation, and interactive learning, drawing visitors from across France and beyond.

    • Nine Aquatic Environments: The aquarium recreates nine distinct habitats, ranging from the chilly polar seas to vibrant tropical forests, offering a global perspective on aquatic life.

    • Mediterranean Zone: Begin your journey in the clear waters of the Mediterranean, observing seahorses, moray eels, and red coral in meticulously designed underwater caves and meadows.

    • Regular Hours: Open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (last entry at 5:00 pm) during most of the year.

    • Spring and Summer Holidays: Open until 7:00 pm (last entry at 5:30 pm).

    How to Get There

    • Tram: Take Line 1 to “Odysseum” and get off at “Place de France” (the aquarium is a short walk from the stop).

    • Bus: Bus Line 9 stops at “Place de France”.

    • Train: From Montpellier’s main train station (Gare Saint-Roch), take Tram Line 1 to Odysseum; the journey takes about 20 minutes.

    • Car: Access via the A9 or A709 motorways, exit 29 (Millénaire Odysseum). Ample parking is available in the Odysseum complex.

    • Taxi: Taxis are readily available throughout Montpellier and can drop you at the main entrance.

    • Bicycle: Montpellier is a bike-friendly city, and Odysseum offers secure bike parking.

    • Boat: There is no direct boat access to Planet Ocean Montpellier, but the Mediterranean coast is only 4 km away for those arriving by sea.
