    National Museum of Natural Sciences

Established in 1986, the National Museum of Natural Science is one of Taiwan’s most visited attractions. With over 3 million annual visitors, it is a hub for learning and discovery. The museum features six main venues: the Space Theater, Science Center, Life Science Hall, Human Cultures Hall, Global Environment Hall, and the Botanical Garden. From interactive exhibits to stunning natural displays, the NMNS offers something for everyone.

History of National Museum of Nature and Science

The museum was born out of a vision to create a national science center that would inspire curiosity and learning. Construction began in 1981 under the guidance of architect Han Pao-teh. The first phase opened on January 1, 1986, featuring the Science Center and Space Theater. Over time, additional halls such as the Life Science Hall (1988), Human Cultures Hall (1993), and Global Environment Hall were added. In 1999, the Botanical Garden was completed, adding an outdoor dimension to this incredible institution.

Today, the NMNS stands as a testament to Taiwan’s commitment to education and preservation. It also manages several satellite museums, including the 921 Earthquake Museum and Chelungpu Fault Preservation Park.
