ToggleMall Road (Murree)
Mall Road is the heart of Murree, the hill station in the pine-covered hills north-east of Islamabad, at about 2,250 metres. It is a lively promenade lined with shops, cafes and colonial-era buildings, closed to most traffic and busy from late afternoon until late at night, especially in summer and on snowy winter weekends. (Lahore also has a famous Mall Road; this guide covers Murree.)

History of Mall Road (Murree)
The British founded Murree in 1851 as a sanatorium for troops, and for some years it served as the summer headquarters of the Punjab government. The Mall grew up as the town’s main street and social centre, and a few landmarks of that era still stand along it, such as the Holy Trinity Church and the old General Post Office.
Murree became Pakistan’s most popular hill resort, which brings its own pressures. In January 2022 heavy snowfall trapped thousands of cars on the roads around the town and more than 20 people died, many inside their vehicles. Since then the authorities issue winter traffic advisories and can limit vehicle entry during heavy snow. More background on Wikipedia.
