Holy Trinity Church is the historic Anglican church of Nuwara Eliya, the colonial hill station in Sri Lanka’s tea country. Set among trees on Church Road near the town centre, the stone church dates from 1852 and is one of the best-preserved reminders of the town’s British past.

History of Holy Trinity Church, Nuwara Eliya
Work on the church began in 1845, and it was consecrated on 24 February 1852 by Bishop James Chapman, the first Bishop of Colombo. It was designed by Captain Nelson in the Early English Gothic style; the original building forms the western end, and the church was enlarged in 1889.
On 18 April 1954 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip attended a service here during their royal tour of Ceylon. The church’s pipe organ, around a century old, was restored in 2001, and the church was declared an Archaeological Protected Monument in 2007.

- Car or taxi: Nuwara Eliya is about 75 km from Kandy (around 2.5–3 hours on winding mountain roads) and about 170–200 km from Colombo (around 5–6 hours).
