    Heydar Aliyev Centre

The Heydar Aliyev Centre is not just an architectural marvel but also a significant cultural institution in Azerbaijan. It serves as a venue for various events such as concerts, exhibitions, conferences, and performances. The centre’s design reflects both contemporary innovation and respect for traditional Azerbaijani culture. Its fluid curves blend seamlessly with its surroundings while offering an immersive experience for visitors.

    History of Heydar Aliyev Centre

The site where the Heydar Aliyev Centre stands today was once home to an engineering plant known as Levinson factory from the 1850s until independence in 1991. Following independence from Soviet rule in 1991, there were plans to build a Grand Mosque on this site; however, these plans were eventually abandoned. In 2007, an international competition was held to design a cultural center here. Zaha Hadid Architects won this competition with their groundbreaking design that would later become one of Baku’s most iconic landmarks.
