ToggleHamdeok Beach
Hamdeok Beach (officially Hamdeok Seoubong Beach) in Jocheon-eup, on Jeju Island’s north-east coast, is the island’s most visited beach. Its pale sand and shallow, emerald-blue water have earned it the nickname “Korea’s Maldives”, and it’s only about 30 minutes from Jeju Airport.
Behind the beach rises Seoubong, a small grassy volcanic cone with easy walking paths and sea views, and the beachfront is lined with cafes and restaurants.

History of Hamdeok Beach
Hamdeok was a fishing village before it grew into one of Jeju’s favourite summer beaches. Today it’s by far the busiest beach on the island: in the 2025 season it drew more than 700,000 visitors, over half of all beach visitors on Jeju.
The beach is also a stop on Jeju Olle Trail route 19, which follows the coast between Jocheon and Gimnyeong. Since winter 2025 it has hosted a seasonal festival with Christmas lights and decorations.

- Coastal walkway: a short path and bridge lead around the rocky headland at the western end, great for photos.
