ToggleElephant Trunk Rock
Nestled along Taiwan’s northeastern coast, Elephant Trunk Rock was a striking 20-meter-high sandstone formation that stood as a testament to nature’s artistry. Even after the collapse of its famous “trunk,” the area continues to attract visitors with its rugged coastline, turquoise waters, and surreal rock formations. Whether you’re an avid hiker, a nature lover, or simply looking for Instagram-worthy scenery, this destination offers a memorable experience.
History of Elephant Trunk Rock
Elephant Trunk Rock was formed over thousands of years by the relentless forces of wind and waves. Its distinct shape made it one of Taiwan’s most photographed landmarks. Unfortunately, in December 2023, strong storms caused the iconic “trunk” to collapse into the ocean. Despite this loss, local authorities reopened the site shortly afterward, emphasizing its other geological wonders and panoramic views. The rock remains symbolic of Taiwan’s dynamic coastal landscape.
