East Coast Park is Singapore’s most popular seaside park: a long strip of beaches, cycling tracks, playgrounds and food centres on reclaimed land along the south-east coast. It is free, open 24 hours, and the place where locals go to cycle, barbecue, fly kites and eat chilli crab by the sea.

History of East Coast Park
The park was built on land reclaimed from the sea off Katong and Bedok and opened to the public in stages from 1972. The man-made beaches are protected by breakwaters, and the park has grown to about 180 hectares, stretching for more than 13 km between Marina East and Bedok.
Newer additions include Coastal PlayGrove, Marine Cove and Parkland Green, and since 2024 the Thomson-East Coast MRT line has made the park much easier to reach by public transport.

- Cycling and skating track: A continuous track runs the length of the park, linked to the Park Connector Network.
- Beaches: Calm, breakwater-protected beaches for picnics and paddling.
- Coastal PlayGrove: Family area with Singapore’s tallest outdoor play feature, water play and a nature play garden.
- Marine Cove: Playground and restaurants in a popular family hub.
- Cable ski park: Singapore’s only cable-ski and wakeboard park, at the East Coast lagoon.
- Xtreme Skatepark: One of Singapore’s largest skateparks.
- Bedok Jetty: A 250-metre jetty popular with anglers and sunrise watchers.

- Cycle or skate: Rent a bike or skates from the rental kiosks and ride along the coast.
- Barbecue: Book one of the public barbecue pits through NParks in advance.
- Camp: Camping is allowed only in designated areas with an NParks permit, applied for online.
- Try cable skiing: Lessons and sessions for beginners and experienced riders.
- Eat seafood by the sea: Head to the East Coast Seafood Centre for chilli crab at dinner.
- Watch the ships: The anchored ships offshore light up at dusk.

- Entry: Free, open 24 hours daily.
- Swimming: There are no lifeguards; NParks has advised swimmers to cover exposed skin because of jellyfish sightings.
- Maintenance: Some footpaths and facilities are under maintenance into October 2026; check NParks for updates.
- Tip: Mornings and late afternoons are cooler; weekends get very busy.
How Long to Spend at East Coast Park
Two to three hours is enough for a cycle and a meal. Families with children or anyone planning a barbecue can easily spend a whole day.
How to Get There
- MRT: Thomson-East Coast line stations Marine Parade, Marine Terrace, Siglap and Bayshore are a 10-15 minute walk from different sections of the park, via underpasses below the expressway.
- Bus: Services along Marine Parade Road and East Coast Road stop within walking distance; check Google Maps for your route.
- Taxi or Grab: Ask to be dropped at a specific car park or landmark (for example East Coast Lagoon Food Village or Marine Cove), as the park is long.
- Driving: Several paid car parks along East Coast Park Service Road.
