ToggleDongmun Traditional Market
Dongmun Traditional Market is the oldest and best-known permanent market on Jeju Island, in the old town of Jeju City close to the harbour. Covered lanes are packed with stalls selling Jeju mandarins, fresh and dried seafood, snacks and souvenirs, and in the evening its night market draws crowds for street food.
It’s free to wander and only about 15 minutes by taxi from Jeju Airport, so it’s an easy first or last stop on a Jeju trip.

History of Dongmun Traditional Market
The market grew up in the years after Korea’s liberation in 1945 and became Jeju’s main permanent marketplace, at a time when most island trade happened at periodic five-day markets. Over the decades it expanded into a network of covered sections around the Dongmun rotary.
Today it serves both locals, who come for fish, produce and household goods, and visitors, who come for mandarins, gifts and the night market, added in recent years to bring new life to the market.
