    Botanical Garden

Located in the heart of Dushanbe, the Botanical Garden is a sanctuary for plant lovers and a vital ecological hub. It boasts an impressive collection of over 8,000 plant species from around the world, including rare and endangered varieties. The garden’s serene ambiance, combined with its educational and recreational offerings, makes it a favorite spot for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

    History of Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden was established in 1933 under the leadership of Professor B.A. Fedchenko as part of the Soviet Union’s efforts to study and preserve plant biodiversity in Central Asia. Initially spanning 34 hectares, it was expanded and developed over the decades to include specialized zones representing different geographical regions, such as East Asia, North America, Europe, and Central Asia.

During its early years, the garden focused on acclimatizing exotic plants to Tajikistan’s arid climate. By the 1960s, greenhouses and research facilities were added to support scientific studies on plant genetics and physiology. Despite challenges during the economic downturns of the late 20th century, the garden has since been revitalized and continues to play a crucial role in conservation and education.
