    Anping Tree House

Nestled in the historic Anping District of Tainan, Taiwan, the Anping Tree House is a mesmerizing blend of history and nature. Once a bustling warehouse during the Japanese colonial era, this site has been transformed by banyan trees that have overtaken its structure, creating a unique and magical spectacle. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or a nature lover, this attraction offers an unforgettable experience.

    History of Anping Tree House

The Anping Tree House was originally built as a warehouse for Tait & Co., one of the leading trading companies during Taiwan’s Japanese colonial period. After being abandoned for decades, nature took over, with banyan trees growing through and around the building. The aerial roots and trunks of these trees penetrated walls, windows, and even the roof, creating a surreal fusion of architecture and greenery.

Locals once feared the site due to folklore associating banyan aerial roots with negative energy. For years, it was referred to as the “Haunted House.” However, in 2004, the warehouse was officially reopened as part of the National Anping Harbor Historic Park. Today, it stands as a testament to the power of nature reclaiming man-made structures.
